What is the process of running Environment Reprovisioning tool on VHD environment.
I have restored the Database from UAT (Update 20) to Local VHD (Update 10.0.13)
The modules implemented in UAT are Finance, SCM, Payroll and Retail/Commerce.
I want to run Retail Retarget tool on the VHD. I have downloaded it from LCS and tried running it:
But I'm getting below error:
Is there a blog to explain how it can be run on VHD?
I followed this Blog Using the Retail Reprovisioning tool for Dynamics 365 for Operations – JohanPersson.nu
and ran the Runbook command but getting below error:
Appreciate any tips.
First of all, given that you are restoring a 10.0.20 database to 10.0.13 VHD, have you applied the 10.0.20 service update?
If you have done so, please make sure the 10.0.20 service update is located in a short path, for example, C:\temp.
Inside of that update package go to RetailServer\Scripts find a script called RetargetRetailServer.ps1 and manually run it under a PowerShell Administrator console.
Thanks Juliet. I have downloaded Service update 20. Do we directly apply it to 13? Or I have to go step by step first major update 17 and then update 20?
It's not mandatory to do so, applying another interim service update before upgrading to 10.0.20. As always, just make sure you have backup of everything before applying the service update, in case anything goes wrong and easier for troubleshooting.
I ran the service update 20. It got stuck at step 9. There's no file like that in that folder for which it is giving the error:
So as you said keeping the folder into small path was crucial. It was in downloads folder. I took it to C:\ServUpd20. now the error is gone.
Getting Error on Step 25: Sync AX database:
System.Management.Automation.RuntimeException: An exception of type System.Net.WebException occurred when making an http request to: http://127.0.0.1/ReportServer. Refer to the log file for more details.
Started Report Server manually from SQL Server configuration service and then it passed the step.
So Service Update 20 is done. Thanks so much Juliet.
But I'm now stuck at Retarget Retail script. Getting below errror:
Were you running this with Administrator?
This is a new user with Administrative privileges. Not the first user:Administrator.
You should make sure the PowerShell script window is opened with elevated privilege, meaning: right click and select "Run as administrator".
Also, if you have any customization packages installed on your UAT instance, make sure to run those right after restoring the UAT database to your VHD using the devinstall method... after than, as long as you have started powershell as admin as previously mentioned, you just run the latest platform update package and you dont really need to do much else.
Yes, I opened the Powershell with Run As Administrator and the VHD is updated to Service 20 (same as UAT).
Do we have to do any configuration to the stores? Like make it virtual in the settings? Because in Production there are 10 physical stores configured. Don't exactly have the idea as new to Retail.
Usually you don't need to make any change before running reprovisioning tool.
Unfortunately that error message doesn't tell much useful information. You may try manually run that retarget script in Powershell ISE and debug it to see why it failed.
If you need more help with this, feel free open a support ticket with our support team so someone can take a look at this environment with you.
Where can I open the support Ticket to resolve this VHD issue?
