We want to implement a similar methodology that is used in quotes >> Customers lookup – where the Dynamics Customer data type is used to create a combined lookup experience using both accounts/ contacts. We want to be able to use this approach for creating a lookup – which shows both the Product Categories and Sub Category fields tabbed view. Is this possible ?
This is indeed impossible. But we can find other viable alternatives.
The Customer Lookup field enables the consolidation of account lookups and contact lookups into one field. In other words, this field is either an account or a contact, but only one.
In this case, if we want Product Categories and Sub Category to achieve this effect, then we can create two lookup fields and set a business rule:
Then, only one field of the Product Categories and Sub Category will contains data.
