Issue Reported:When updating the owner of some accounts, the owner of some opportunities related to those accounts has also been updated when there is no relationship, hierarchy or process that executes the change of the owners of the opportunities.Causes:Change of ownership of Account records was done through export and import Excel file. To reassign records of the old user to the new user, the excel file was exported with old user ownership, changed the ownership to new user and then imported it back to the Dynamics CRM.When imported, the owner of some opportunities related to those accounts has also change when there is no relationship, hierarchy or process that executes the change of the owners of the opportunities.Resolution:To my understanding, the reassigning records through this kind of import is not correct. However, when assigning records from a user to another user the best practice is to use a feature available to Dynamics 365 CRM System Administration user management capabilities. There are two ways to accomplish this. The below steps will show you how to transfer ownership for all Records belonging to a User or Team:Method 1• On the Navigation Bar, Click Dynamics 365• Click Settings• Click on Security • Select Users, then open the User you want to reassign all records for• Select Manage Roles:From here, you can reassign ALL of the user’s records to yourself or another user or teamThis will reassign all records regardless of their status—so Inactive and Active records both will be reassignedMethod 2: Reassign SOME Records• To reassign select records, you can either• navigate to an individual record and select the Reassign button at the top• Go to a View, select the records, then select “Assign”:Go to Advanced Find and search for + select the appropriate records, then select Assign
