Dear Community ,
I have been asked to create a SSRS report ( USING SQL Data tool ( not AX)) for audit purposes which needs to list the entire AX workflow configuration for Purchase Requisition . Unfortunately for me the important data are stored as query expressions and by looking the table in SQL there is no way to convert the info in string or something similar.
Is there any way I can achieve this?
Not from SQL, no. You would need to write business logic in your report calling in to AX objects to retrieve packed values such as a query and return it in a way that can be digested by an SSRS datasource.
Thank Vilmos for the accurate response.. This exactly what I was trying to avoid :)
In order to use the available queries(AOT) from AX, you have to use data method functionality as mentioned by Vilmos.
From SQL , you can have Stored procedures(SP) to gather the required set of data for you.
Just to avoid rewriting whole logic again under SP, you can consider creating a View with already available queries or create queries as required. Then use this View under SP to fetch and filter records.
Further on this SP can be used as a dataset for SSRS report.
