We have implemented AX in a company which has offices in US & India. The servers were placed in India with US clients accessing it. We have used a mix of Citrix & WTS for the US Clients. No manufacturing was used here but there were a lot of financial transactions being carried out from US end. However you must keep in mind the time zone factor. We used a separate AOS server (clustered) for the US clients as there was a time difference issue between India & US.
Also I have implemented AX in a company in India which has 35 Retail locations across India. They also use CITRIX to connect to HQ. You also need to consider the connectivity between your offices (P2P, Lease Line etc). Also the number of ASU's at your SEA offices (You need to identify the nos. of AOS Servers based on the ASU).
Hope this helps you.
