New import/export tool and updated guidance!

We are pleased to announce the release of the Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 Test Data Transfer Tool (beta) on InformationSource!
This command-line tool exports data from a Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 business database, and imports it into a Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 business database in
a non-production environment. Internally, we’ve called this the Dataport tool, and we use it to move demo data into our test and dev environments.

We’re aware that this new tool is one of many that we’ve shipped for Microsoft Dynamics AX, and that some guidance about which tool to use for what
would be helpful.

For that reason, we’ve significantly updated the topic Plan data import, export and migration. It now includes a very large table that describes which import/export tool is best suited to which business task, and then provides information that you can use to become familiar with the tools, and compare them.
