The following are some examples of the error received when posting retail statements and a required financial dimension is missing:

The combination was not validated beyond the XXX financial dimension.

Inventory dimension XXX is a product dimension and must consequently be specified. You must select a value in the XXX field in combination with the following dimension values that are valid

Below is an example of a Statement posting error with a invalid Financial Dimension BusinessUnit with the error on value 081 not allowed.

While processing the state Customer order invoiced, generic exception encountered in retail statement SHOUSTON000076 in the controller : Posting Posting Sales order: 012603 Voucher INV-10012497 BusinessUnit 081 is not an allowed value in combination with the following dimensions values that are valid: Posting Posting Sales order: 012603 Voucher INV-10012497 MainAccount 500150. Posting Posting Sales order: 012603 Voucher INV-10012497 The combination was not validated beyond the BusinessUnit financial dimension. Posting Posting Sales order: 012603 Voucher INV-10012497 Dimension values were validated with this account structure: Retail P&L – US

You will have 1 of 2 options:

to either allow the BusinessUnit 081 on the Account Structure or
Remove the 081 BusinessUnit from the Customer or Store, etc (wherever the BusinessUnit Financial dimension is set)

To find the Account Structure, go to General ledger > Ledger setup > Ledger You see the Account Structures for the Ledger, Drill back on the account structure associated with the account giving the error In the error, I can see the account structure Retail P&L – US is the Account Structure that has the issue.

Retail P&L – US contains BusinessUnit, Department and only allows values 005 through 006 and value 078 for the provided main accounts
For MainAccount 500150 and Financial Dimension BusinessUnit, in this case 081 is not allowed. For the Where clause below, you will have to add 081 to allow it in the Account Structure.

The other option is you will need to look at the Customer, store or all other areas where the Financial dimension could be pulled from and remove the BusinessUnit 081 or add a BusinessUnit that is allowed in the Account Structure (005, 006 or 078).

Remove or update the Financial dimension to a valid dimension for the Account structure.

Go to Commerce parameters > Posting > Statement and set Recalculate financial dimensions on error = Yes. Note, this will work going forward.

If this flag is not set to Yes, you will need to go to the Statement receiving the error and Right click on the statement header and Personalize. Add a field. Mark “Recalculate financial dimension on error” and update
