Functional Tip: How does Business Central assign priority to Responsibility Centres?

CDsilva Profile Picture CDsilva 4,188

Introduction:

Hi,

In my previous blog we saw how to centralize the location for all transactions but did you there are priorities assigned to the Responsibility centres and Location codes ?

We can assign Responsibility Centres to Business Central at 3 places.

  1. The Customers/Vendors can be assigned a Responsibility centre
Responsibility centre at Customer setup

Blank location code and Responsibility centre means the centralized location code and responsibility centre will be used for transactions.

2. We can assign responsibility centre on User card

London is assigned to Sales and Purchase

3. We can also assign Responsibility centres to Company information card(centralized responsibility centre)

Birmingham is assigned as a centralized responsibility centre

For Responsibility centres:

  1. Highest priority is given to the User setup
  2. Second priority is given to the company information setup for centralized responsibility centre
  3. Last priority is given to the Customer/Vendor setup
  • So, if Responsibility centre London is assigned to the User setup for Sales then the same Responsibility centre will be used for all Sales Transaction
  • If User setup is empty and Centralized Responsibility is assigned as Birmingham and Customer’s responsibility centre is assigned as London then Birmingham will be used in all transactions.

For Location code:

We can assigned centralized locations and also assign locations to Customers or Vendors.

  1. Highest priority is given to the location assigned to Customers/Vendors
  2. Lowest priority is given to the centralized locations.

Thanks for reading! Have a great week!
