You may ask yourself: why is it important to conduct a Solution Blueprint Review? The Solution Blueprint Review aims at bringing all the work which has been done on a Dynamics 365 project in the analysis and design phase together in a holistic review: your vision, solution strategy, fit gap analysis, goals and objectives and solution architecture.
While each of the topics may have been covered and discussed already, it is useful to bring these topics together and review these with all personas participating in the project: from Project sponsor and Product owner to Functional leads and FastTrack Solution Architects. This helps ensure that all parties are aligned on what is going to be built, its goals and when it’ll be delivered.
The Solution Blueprint Review workshop is structured around 10 topics, which has proven to be of vital importance for all Dynamics 365 projects. These are:
- Program strategy
- Test strategy
- Business process strategy
- Application strategy
- Data strategy
- Integration strategy
- Intelligence strategy
- Security strategy
- Application lifecycle management (ALM) strategy
- Environment and capacity strategy
During the workshop, these topics are covered through discussion and supported with targeted questions to go deep on each topic to understand if there are issues and risks associated with it, if the solution strategy aligns to the capabilities of Dynamics 365, and if the intended solution strategy meets the goals and objectives of the project.
The Solution Blueprint Review workshop is also an opportunity to highlight areas of the project where guidance from FastTrack is needed. If there is a need to go deep on a specific topic, such as integration strategy or ALM or a deep dive into business requirements for Omnichannel, this can be planned as a follow-up to the Solution Blueprint Review workshop. The Solution Blueprint Review workshop aims to identify issues, risks, opportunities and needs across the topic areas covered.
The output of the Solution Blueprint Review workshop is a list of issues, risks and follow-up action items and is shared and discussed with the customer and partner implementation teams. With this, the Solution Blueprint Review workshop and the findings and recommendations report lay the foundation for the rest of the FastTrack engagement for your project.
