At World Partner Conference 2016, Microsoft revealed details about Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Project Madeira, including an SMB product roadmap.
Microsoft will continue to develop and improve Microsoft Dynamics GP, NAV and SL, but details about Dynamics plans for 2017 and beyond were not revealed at this WPC 2016 session, “The future of business solutions for SMBs: What’s next for Microsoft Dynamics NAV, GP and SL”.
Microsoft Dynamics 365 is a cloud platform for delivering business management apps and brings Office 365, Power BI, Dynamics CRM, Project Madeira and eventually elements of Dynamics AX7 together in the cloud. Madeira, due for release later this year, is expected to be made available as part of Microsoft Dynamics 365 call Dynamics 365 for Financials. The Dynamics AX7 solution will be known as Dynamics 365 for Operations. If you are curious about Dynamics AX capabilities and features checkout this Microsoft Dynamics AX7 article.
“With the announcement of Dynamics 365 as a cloud-based service platform for delivering business apps, it now appears that Project Madeira could be built out to serve companies that are quite a bit larger,” said Jason Gumpert in a recent article at MSDynamicsWorld.com. “Dynamics 365 is expected to be able to handle a full range of customer sizes and its ERP-related capabilities will all originate from either Project Madeira or from the new Dynamics AX on Azure.”
Project Madeira has been described as a cloud based enterprise solution based on Microsoft Dynamics NAV with some GP-like functionality, though Microsoft says they are committed to the continued development of their SMB solutions including Dynamics GP, NAV and SL.
