Hi!
I need to make a backup of the database located on a remote computer on the local network. And the * .bak file should be on the working machine, not on the server.
Tried:

T-SQL

USE TestDB;
GO
BACKUP DATABASE TestDB
TO DISK = '\\MyPC\NetFolder\TestDB.Bak'
   WITH FORMAT,
      NAME = 'Full Backup of TestDB';
GO

I got an error
Msg 3201, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
Cannot open backup device '\\MyPC\NetFolder\TestDB.Bak'. Operating system error 53(Network path not found.).
Msg 3013, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
BACKUP DATABASE is terminating abnormally.

Tell me, what's the problem and how to solve it?

Hi juan,

This is the Microsoft Social Engagement forum, where we are the experts on social media analytics and engagement. It's an amazing product but does not use MS-SQL Server :)

If I had to guess, i think your restore job is pointing at a network disk (\\MyPC) that cannot be found. i suspect that you cannot access \\MyPC from Windows Explorer either.

Hope that helps!
