I use MS CRM 2011 and I would like to do a telemarketing call-down using the marketing lists. However, there is no way to know who I have called by looking at the list. Is there a way to create an "activities" column so I can organize who I have called and see when I called them without having to click the lead record and check closed activities?
Am I right to use a marketing list for a call-down campaign? Any ideas?
You cannot have 'Activities' Column since the Marketing List can have more than 1 Activity and cannot be 1 column only.
By design, the column is only to show primary entity, for example: to show Parent Account name from Contact.
If more than 1 data, so it cannot be a column.
But, you can see through Quick Campaign, Activities, Lead (Marketing List Member), and the Marketing List as well in 360 degree.
I suggest you to use Quick Campaign.
From Marketing List you can Create Quick Campaign
Then you can see the Quick Campaign related to this Marketing List, how many successes or failures
Then from the Quick Campaign you can see the person you've called to.
By default, the Marketing List does not have Relationship with Activity, the one that having relationship is Marketing List Member, so that you can see the activities only by viewing Lead record (Lead is Marketing List Member).
If you want that, then you should customize the Marketing List to store the Activity created both by Campaign or Quick Campaign.
If you see in the Marketing List entity setting, Marketing List cannot have Activities related to this entity:
So that, you should create relationship 1:N from Marketing List to Phone Call in this requirement.
Then you should write plugin or workflow, once the Phone Call created, then link the Marketing List.
You will get the Marketing List from Phone Call, will get the Regarding Object, which is Campaign or Quick Campaign, then from Campaign or Quick Campaign, you can get the Marketing List (for the Quick Campaign, you can get Marketing List easily, but for Campaign, since Campaign can link to Many Marketing List, then you should write a code to compare which is the Marketing List by seeing the Member, if found that 2 Marketing List have same Member, then you should choose which Marketing List you should choose, because 1 Campaign Activity can target to multiple Marketing List and 1 Marketing List can have many members, which is can be same member in each Marketing List), then you link the Phone Call to the Marketing List.
After you have link Phone Call and Marketing List, then you can see from Marketing List all of the Phone Call and you can see the detail, who's been called and when was it?
Hope it helps!
This is great! Thank you! However, when I tried to create a quick campaign off of the marketing list I received this error message....
Have you seen this before? Do you know what could be causing this?
Thanks for your help!
I haven't encountered that error before. You use CRM Online or OnPremise?
I need to see the detailed log.
