I am running CRM 2013 on-prem I have a workflow set to update a case form field when the case is resolved and the status changes from Active to Resolved. But, when I resolve the case the workflow errors out with an error of "This case has already been resolved. Close and reopen the case record to see the updates.". I have tried Async and background workflows and they both fail.
Is there a way to have a workflow execute against a resolved case, or delay the change of the case status until after the workflow process has finished?
You need to register the workflow in the pre-operation of update. Make the following change in your workflow:
Select the 'Record status changes' option.
