How can I upgrade in-place on multiple frontend and backend servers to CRM 2016 and later to D365? Should I do that one by one?
Is there any documentation for this kinda scenario?
The upgrade has 2 main parts:
I've not seen specific documentation on this, but the CRM software should be upgraded first, then you upgrade the organisation databases using CRM Deployment Manager. You'd need to do these upgrade steps to CRM 2016, then repeat for D365
However, I'd be reluctant to run an in-place upgrade with multiple servers, as it gets quite complex to have a robust plan to rollback the upgrade if you have a problem. I'd recommend a swing migration across to different servers, which will allow you to fully test the process first, and is easy to rollback
