Personalization for required fields not working

Posted on by 144
Hello:
I noticed today the ability to mark a field on the dialog form to create a new record (e.g., HcmWorkerNewWorker) does not work out of the box. The field appears to be marked required with the red asterisk but code seems to drive what is truly required and enables the action buttons. While on dialogs such as SalesCreateOrder, marking fields required appears to work OOTB. I guess in part I'm looking for confirmation of what I'm seeing, while also asking if there's a config or minor customization which would enable the dialog to honor the personalized required fields.

    Hi,

Thanks for your reply. I marked one of the replies from Judy for you.

PS. If you are interested, I wrote a blog about the required fields function before: How mandatory is required? - Dynamicspedia

    Thank you, Judy/Andre.
I think it's clear now that depending on how the creation form was built, it may not be able to take advantage of the out of the box functionality to require a field.
@Judy, feel free to make one of your response as an answer. I'm not able to as the browser just spins forever.

    Hi,

This is due to the form design. The name controls are not bound to a data source table field. Then they can be skipped upon validation. When you close the creation form, then it will put the values in the fields in several tables.

Hi, I have checked the code that hire button is enabled when the EmploymentStartDate field is not null.

    Hi Judy,
Please see screenshots below. I set 'Last name prefix' as required. Fill in first name and start date, and I'm able to click Hire. The form doesn't catch the Last name prefix is empty.

    Emmanuel,
Yes, by personalization, I mean I made the field required (rt click > personalize > check required) on the HcmWorkerNewWorker form. I set the 'last name prefix' for testing because it's not required.

    Hi,
If the field is a personalized field, have you explored the possibility of making the field required?..

    BR,
    Segun.

Hi, can you please provide more details about your issue. Since I have checked my demo environment, the required field worked on the HcmWorkerNewWorker page.
