28.0 no longer able to print reports through "Preview & Close"

Hi, 

I am having same issue as here: Solved: Report Printing issue in BC Version: IN Business Central 27.5 the issue has been marked as solved but there is not a real solution proposed that worked for me. (sorry if i am not supposed to repost an answered question, it is my first post) 
 
The issue is that we are no longer able to print any DBC report through the "Preview & Close" action on any report's request page (for my 2 sandboxes updated to 28.0, my production and sandbox environments which are both on 27.5 don't have that issue).

I tested with all three: Chrome, Edge and Firefox with the same behavior; which seems to be affected by DBC's version:
 
28.0:
  • Using "Preview & Close" action on request page opens the report in preview
  • Nothing happens when using action "Print" from preview
  • Other than that, expected behavior for all other tests:
    • Save from preview works
    • Able to print saved file using file explorer
    • Able to print from request page directly
27.5:
  • Expected behavior for all tests:
    • Using "Preview & Close" action on request page opens the report in preview
    • Save from preview works
    • Able to print saved file using file explorer
    • Able to print from request page directly
 
I was about to update my production to 28.0 today but with that issue I will be waiting for the next minor update which should hopefully fix this up.
If anyone can please confirm if they are able to use the print action through the "Preview & Close" page, that would be helpful.

    I did a quick test and there were no problems.
    Browser: Google Chrome 147.0.7727.138
    BC: W1 28.0 (Platform 28.0.49703.0 + Application 28.0.46665.49736)

    We are facing the same issue. The error occurs when clicking the print button in Chrome, as shown in the attached image.

    This really looks like a BC 28.0 client/platform regression, not a browser issue, especially since you reproduced it in Chrome, Edge, and Firefox, and the same flow still works in 27.5; per Microsoft docs, printing should be supported both from the request page and from the report preview menu bar, so if Preview & Close → Print does nothing while Save/Download and Print directly from the request page still work, I’d treat the direct request-page print or saved PDF print as the workaround and avoid updating production until Microsoft fixes it in a minor update, or raise it through your partner/admin center support with the exact version comparison you listed.

    @YUN ZHU I am also able to open the preview page as in your screenshot, but when trying to use the print action once on that page (bottom far right action), nothing at all happens.

    @OussamaSabbouh  Also seems to me that this is an issue related to BC update 28 and independent from the browser. We don't currently have a support plan with microsoft so I will be hoping that they get the feedback from other users and solve the issue in 28.1.

    This issue began for us on 5-7-26 but did not exist prior to then. 5-6-26 the print button was working.  Perhaps our client had not updated till then?  
    Thank you for easing our minds, good to know it is not an internal issue. Now we wait for MS to get a fix out I guess.

    Hopefully Microsoft should release a fix in their next update, but just read the 28.1 that they published ans see nothing mentionned about that issue in there...

    I guess the best solution right now is to create support requests directly with Microsoft so that when enough of us did it they prioritize the fix.

    We have the same issue affecting all users who are rather upset. Our partner has informed us that this function has been disabled by Microsoft in BC28. This is a terrible decision and needs to be figured out quickly by Microsoft. The disruption to our workflow is extremely detrimental and significant. What was Microsoft thinking???

    @PL-28101044-0 Hi, only update I have is that there are now over 6 posts on this forum with the exact issue as well as at least one in their viva engage forum which a microsoft employee has acknowledged. I know there are also at least 3 partners that have raised support case with them, so they definitely should be aware of the issue by now.     @ZK-23072051-0 I would be surprised it was intentional on their end, but at the same time I have a hard time thinking they missed that during their testing.

    I have reported this to MS, it is an issue related to windows/edge updates

    @YUN ZHU Thanks a lot for the update ! Good to know that microsoft has acknowledged the issue officially. Hopefully they will be able to roll the solution out on 28.1

    I just tested the released version 28.1 and I can confirm the issue is still happening. 
     
    Seems like they are supposed to fix it in 29.0:

    Same issue here, confirmed still persists in 28.1. Need this fixed ASAP as users keep reporting it and the workaround is to download open and print which is many more clicks.

    We are facing the exact same issue but we're on 27.5 ....
     
     
    The download button (green) works OK
    The print button (red) does not work (no action, no message, no printout, no dialog, no nothing)

    I just tested it on my hand on our Sandbox version 28.1 and our Production 27.5 and the issue is still happening on our end.

    Hi, I tested again this morning and it now works without any update on both our sandbox and production on 27.5. Seems like they resolved the issue with a hotfix which is great. Thanks to everyone who helped or shared.
