How to add lookup Financial Dimension for Excel Template

Posted on by 132
Hi guys,

I want to ask how to add lookup in a Data Entity that we create our self, which inside of the data entity has Financial Dimension. I tried to follow some blog also Microsoft, but seems it is not working.
So here it is:

1. I have my data entity, added relation data source to DimensionSetEntity

    Property of the relation ->

2.  Based on the blog from Microsoft, we should add relation to data entity of DimensionSet

3. Build and sync.

May I know if all these is correct and enough ? since after Refresh data entity, then go to the form that relate to my custom entity, select Open in Excel, there is no lookup ->

I'm following this blog btw,

Thanks

I seen you have done all correct, two thing I could highlight here
    1.  Click the refresh in the excel add-in and check if check lookup is working.
    2.  Please make sure you connected to same url in excel add-in

    Hi,

Can you search of DimensionSetEntity and DimensionCombinationEntity in AOT to see how many extensions do you have?

    Thanks,

    Hi,

I'm using DimensionSetEntity. But anyway if I check, DimensionCombinationEntity also have the extension, although at this point, no addition relation, as I though I'm not using it.

FYI, the extension the "DimensionIntegrity" is already existed, I guess it was added before my time of working. If I'm right, this two objects: DimensionSetEntity and DimensionCombinationEntity are added when we running this ->
    1. Microsoft Visual Studio, click Dynamics 365 > Addins > Add financial dimensions for Odata.

But if I try again now, I get this error ->

    Not sure what it is.

    Hi,

Did you try to extend the DimensionCombinationEntity also? Did you try to check other data entities?

    Thanks,

    Hi Waed,

Yes, I did. Sorry forgot to put the picture ->

Each of the relation property :

BusinessGroup, taken from OM Business Unit

    Location, taken from RetailChannel

Cost Center, taken from OM Cost center

I actually have another one which is from custom dimensions, but I want to resolve these 3 first.
    Thanks

    Hi,

Did you set the following properties?

In the Properties pane, set the following properties.

    • Validate - No

    • Cardinality - ZeroMore

    • Name - Enter the name of the financial dimension, such as Department.

    • Related Data Entity - Select the entity for the financial dimension that you entered in the Name field. The following table contains a list of the financial dimensions and the related entities.

    • Related Data Entity Cardinality - ZeroOne

    • Related Data Entity Role - Enter a unique name, such as "Dimension Department Lookup".

    • Relationship Type - Association

    • Role - Enter a unique name, such as Dimension Department.

    Thanks,

    Waed Ayyad
