Multiple instances, slit data storage

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Good Day everyone, is it possible to have multiple instances under the same tenant from different regions that do not share the total allocated data storage. For example, you have a tenant with one production instance,  a year later the company opens a branch in another country and the client requests that country 2 must not share data with country one.

I understand that I can create a second production instance which is a copy of the first, but I am not sure if the data allocated to the tenant can be split. I have always understood that all the instances including Sandbox instances that reside under the same tenant will all consume the data allocated as per the admin center.

Could some please provide some clarity....

    Hi,

It is clearly described in MS D365 official document that storage is shared across the primary instance and any additional instances under single tenant with multiple instances.

If you would like to have multiple instances from different regions that do not share the total allocated data storage , you could use a multi-tenant deployment.

    Hope it helps.

    Regards,

Dear ByronD, based on some documentation I believe you will not be able to, all instances in tenant will always share the allocated Data allowance.

Hope that helps in any way.
