Lead mapping to an existing opportunity.

Hi,

Hopefully you can help with this query.      

When a lead is coming back in and already mapping to an existing opportunity could you suggest ways we could be notified, preferably not with a 'New' status, it shouldnt show as New as its already mapped to an existing opportunity.

    Hi,

    If I understood this correctly, you are looking to automate the leade creation in such a way that it auto populates the existing contact record on creation.

    If this is correct then sorry there is no standard/ out of box way to do this. However you can write custom code to achieve this. I have done this for one of my customer where I running a custom code on create of lead and then search the existing contact with the same first name, last name, email & phone number, If found then auto populate otherwise left blank.

    if possible/ feasible for you, you could also write a plugin to achieve this.

    Hi Ravi, thanks for getting back to me. Ok, I work for a university, we have students applying or looking for information all the time, in some cases they would generate multiple leads because they are requesting different information. At present each time they contact us in that way, it generates a new lead and we are notified that its a new lead. We then have to open the lead and manually enter the name of the person in the Existing Contact box. Is there any way that this could be done without manually having to enter their name in the Existing Contact box? Many thanks.
