Portals add-on - file attachments disappears on step change

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hello,

we are currently implementing some of our customer webforms to Portals Webforms.
They are step based, and allows the customer to enter information and then either let them press Next or let them go click Back.

It is possible to activate the "file attachment" feature on a step, which allows the user to select a file and have it uploaded.

Our problem is that when the user clicks Next:
- The attached files are uploaded immediately (we have more steps to come).
- If the user clicks Back again, the attached files are removed from the step.

Can this be changed or a workaround? We would like to offer the user the possibility of selecting some files, but they should only be uploaded on the last submission. As far as we can see, the only way to enforce this, is to actually have the attachment files feature activated on the last and final step.

We use standard webform steps, so the first step is set to mode: Insert and the remaining are set to mode: Update (with the ID from the first creation as input).
