Dynamics 365 app for Outlook track appointments

Posted on by

Hi All,

Recently we moved to Dynamics 8.2.1. We would like to enable the CRM app for Outlook, however we are missing some functionality:

In the previous CRM plug-in for Outlook there was a possibility to track e-mail where the tracking user is not the organizer (received appointment). In the new Outlook app this function is dissapeard, at least i'm unable to find is.

To be clear, we are able to track own created appointments, but not received appointments.

Do you know if this is a bug, or by design?

Thanks in advance,

Maarten

    Hi Maarten.

I don't suppose you ever got a response to your question?  We are experiancing the exact same problem.

Tried updating our test env to 9.0, but that resulted in having to nuke the test Env and restore it from backups.

Do you know if this is available for Onpremise. I downloaded the latest solution available and I don't see TrackAppointmentsFromNonOrganizer. I tried different browser and it does not appear.

    Thank You for your time.

    Hi everyone,

To enable CRM users to track all internal and external meetings and appointments regardless of who is the organizer and owner of the meeting,

1- install "Organization Settings Editor (Dynamics 365)" solution ([View:https://github.com/seanmcne/OrgDbOrgSettings/releases/:750:50])

    if you need a document :  [View:https://support.microsoft.com/en-ca/help/2691237/orgdborgsettings-tool-for-microsoft-dynamics-crm:750:50]

    2- change TrackAppointmentsFromNonOrganizer to "true"

3- Hard refresh your internet explorer cache (delete browsing history)

    that's it

please mark this as the answer

    OK Confirmed.

    I did two tests:

    1. Invited another USER in the same organization (think another CRM user) to a meeting.

They are unable to track the meeting using the App for Outlook as they are not the Organizer "Another user is the organizer of this meeting" error

    2. Sent external invite for a meeting (like if you get a meeting request from another business/person/client) and it allows me to track the meeting even though I'm not the organizer.

So it appears to be by design that if another internal CRM user invites you, you cannot track the meeting as you are not the organizer. It apparently falls to them to do the tracking.

    Hi Maarten,

I know that we used to take advantage of the old Outlook Client's ability to track Appointments on other user's Shared Calendars. eg. I look up your calendar from my Outlook, and Set Regarding one of your Appointments for you into CRM.

This "Shared Calendar" capability to track in Appointments on other people's calendars is definitely not present in current builds of the new lightweight CRM App for Outlook.

I asked the product team for clarification on whether this is NEVER going to happen or they PLAN to at some point, but they would not clarify. Grrrrrrrrrr!

Anyway, I'm not sure if your case is the same, as it sounds like you are saying that if you are an Invitee to another person's meeting, and they have invited you. If you accepted the invite, and it appears on your calendar, are you saying you are unable to track that in as you are not the Organizer?

    Cheers,

    Dan
