    In visual studio SSRS reports You can add a text box to the report, right click, select expression, enter "=sum(YourField.Value)" without "" (example. "= sum(Fields!InvoiceDetail_quantityValue.Value)").  You can auto populate the field by selecting from dataset under Category list box.
