How do I find out what solution/layer a component belongs to?

Hello Dynamics 365 Community,

I hope someone can help please. Is there a way I can easily find out what solution/layer a component belongs to?

Below is an example I’m trying to fix.

I import a solution containing a new field on a form. The solution imports, but the new field doesn’t show on the form.

From my understanding the form with the new field on it is “owned” by another solution/layer.

How can I easily work out what solution/layer the form belongs to?

I hope that makes sense?

Thanks,

Garry

    Hi ,

Try to create new section in the form and add the field again before export the solution. This sometimes happen when you have multiple managed and unmanaged solution or if you directly changed in the target managed solution components from default solution.

    Hi Garry,

View solution layers feature in D365 might help you. - docs.microsoft.com/.../solution-layers

    Hello Adrian,

Thanks so much for the quick reply. The document was great! I learnt a lot. It didn't give me exactly what I was looking for. I was hoping to be able to maybe look at an API, and if I was viewing a specific form, it would tell me what solution it belonged to.

Maybe this isn't possible, but thanks for your help anyway. Much appreciated.

    Hi Garry Pope,

This article explains how solution layering works.
