UI customization for the Outlook Plugin: Removing unwanted items

Posted on by 45

I would like to remove some of the UI elements from the Outlook plugin to avoid confusion from our end users. We don't want them to be able to create using the plus sign without first clicking search in the set regarding component. I encircled the elements I'd like to remove in red:

If they create using the plus button, we don't see the original email associated in the Case that is created. Removing this option avoids this confusion. Is it possible to customize the UI in this way?

Also, in the Look for Records screen, we want to remove everything but contacts and Cases:

Are these configurations possible?

Thanks

    Hi rallen,

    1. Unfortunately we couldn't customize ribbon button in Dynamics 365 App for Outlook.

    2. To remove entities in Look for, you can navigate to Settings > Application > Apps, find the D365 App for Outlook icon and OPEN IN APP DESIGNER.

In app designer, you can see all visible entities(1) in D365 App for Outlook,

to remove account entity, just find Entitie menu in Components tab at right of App designer,

search account and then Uncheck it(2), after modification, click Save(3) and Publish(4) after saved.

Then only entities in Entity View section will be visible for filter.

(which means the unchecked entities are not searchable in lookup field in D365 App for Outlook,

however,  you can still add unchecked entities to site map area to search them

Please read this article for all available customization in D365 App for Outlook:

    Regards,
