Would appreciate if anyone can respond for the following in the areas I doubt relate to Dynamics 365 Pricing & Licensing.
(1) After purchasing Business edition, transition from business edition to enterprise edition is possible?
(2) Does device license include in Business edition & enterprise edition plan 01?
(3) Does a Light user is entitled for per application or for all the applications in both the editions?
(4) Does Power BI embedded with Enterprise edition plan 1 & Business edition?
(5) Does a Light user get Power BI access? or need to take it separately?
(6) CAL not required when a user or a device licensed? Not required a sever license separately?
(7) In licensing which way we should consider;
(8) Can we mix & match Plan pricing, App Pricing, Device pricing? (for some users plan pricing, for some app pricing and for some device pricing)
Thank you.
I will take a shot at it based on my understanding of the licensing guide -
(1) After purchasing Business edition, transition from business edition to enterprise edition is possible?
My guess is this is possible but you will need to discuss with Microsoft.
(2) Does device license include in Business edition & enterprise edition plan 01?
Device SL is only in Enterprise edition. In Business edition you only have User SL.
(3) Does a Light user is entitled for per application or for all the applications in both the editions?
Light user (Team member) is entitled to a limited functionality as detailed in the licensing doc. They can be in both per app or plan.
(4) Does Power BI embedded with Enterprise edition plan 1 & Business edition?
Business edition does not include Power BI.
Enterprise edition - Plan 1 will allow users to visualize Power BI embedded into Dynamics 365 but users will need to subscribe to Power BI (free or Pro license)
(5) Does a Light user get Power BI access? or need to take it separately?
Refer above.
(6) CAL not required when a user or a device licensed? Not required a sever license separately?
Assuming this is for Dynamics 365 online only. There is no Server license for online.
(7) In licensing which way we should consider;
Licensing for the app(one app) that contains in the device or
Licensing for the device that consist with the app(one app)?
If multiple users are going to be using 1 device to access Dynamics 365 than use device licenses. If not than the only option is user subscription license
(8) Can we mix & match Plan pricing, App Pricing, Device pricing? (for some users plan pricing, for some app pricing and for some device pricing)
You can mix and match user or device license.
You can purchase subscription by plan and also by app. Assigning the subscription license to user will give them access to the 1 app or all apps in the plan.
