How to customize the 'Stage' option set that appears within an Opportunity record?

Hi!

Would be grateful to have some help and find out how to customize option sets that appear in the Opportunity form records. Currently I can only see the default for Stages:

1- Identified Opportunity, 2- Received invitation to tender, 3- Submitted Proposal, 4- Final negotiation.

I would like to have these removed and add 7 pipeline stages that fit within my organization's needs.

I came across this thread:

https://community.dynamics.com/crm/f/117/t/213942

But as the users pointed out, this is a solution reflected in the Business Process but not the Opportunity form.

Thanks for anyone taking the time to respond.

    Hi partner,

You could save your record with 2 ways.

    1."Save" button.

It's in the lower right corner of the page and it's really small...

    2.Auto Save

The button appears at the tight bottom of the screens. It is quite small though :)

Thank you for being so helpful. I'll try these options.

One more question, quite elementary, but I can't work out how to save an edited Opportunity record. There is no dedicated save button, instead to save I've found that I have to click 'Next Stage', then it saves the edits but it also progresses to the next stage which is undesirable. Is there another way to save an edited Opportunity record?

    -Thx

    Hi partner,

As I know, there are at least 3 ways to update records in bulk.

1.If you want to update one field in bulk like states, status, you could use Bulk Edit.

You could refer to this blog for more steps.

    https://community.dynamics.com/crm/b/crmtipstricksnewstomaster/archive/2018/02/20/how-to-bulk-edit-in-microsoft-dynamics-365-crm

    2.Use templates to import records.

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/customer-engagement/basics/import-accounts-leads-other-data

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/customer-engagement/developer/import-data

    3.Use Excel Online.

Personally, I think this is an excellent method, we could edit the records in excel online, remember to click "save changes to Dynamics 365" after updating the records.

    Hope it helps.

    Hi,

Yes, you should be able to export required record in Excel. update the desired values and import it in the system.

    Hope this helps.

Thank you for helping my understanding of what needs to be done.

Is there also an Excel / CSV style data update template? I noticed that those options exist so if I wanted to update Opportunity records in bulk, I could just use an excel loadsheet no?

    Thx

    Hi partner,

1.Yes, you should have system customizer security role to customize the system. You could contact the administrator to help you set up BPF or give you the right permissions.

2.BPF is just a guide for people to get work done. So you could create opportunities first now and then switch the records' BPF with custom workflow (You could also manually update each record, but that can be cumbersome).

This action needs coding development and you could discuss with your development team. Here is a sample requirement.

    Hope it helps.

    Thank you Leo.

It seems that I don't have access to the Customization section - is this an admin only access area?

Another question, can I create Opportunities now (without updating the stages), and later import data in bulk to update things like the Stage for each Opportunity?

    Thank you.
