Live segments all reverted to Draft mode, labeled as in "Error State"

I tried to update a segment yesterday to add a new member and noticed all Live segments have been placed into Draft mode and error out when trying to Go Live but still passing the error check:

What is causing this and how do I restore my segments? I tried saving as a copy, but no luck, just stays in the Error state.
I have the same question (0)

The “stale / evaluation stopped” error occurs when the segment evaluation engine is unable to process segments, typically due to a backend service issue, broken

    data dependencies, or environment-level problems.

Since all your segments are affected and even copies fail, this strongly indicates a platform or evaluation service issue rather than a configuration problem.

You should verify recent schema changes and service health, but most likely you will need to raise a Microsoft support ticket to restore the evaluation engine

and bring segments back to a live state.

    Hello,

When multiple previously working Live segments fail simultaneously, the causes are almost always:

    • Backend CI Journeys service issue
    • A failed or partial environment update
    • Segment engine reprocessing failure
    • Dataverse metadata desync between Audience builder and runtime engine

Microsoft explicitly notes that complex or previously-valid audience logic can fail to publish after internal updates, even without user changes.

Can You Restore the Existing Segments?

    Unfortunately: No, not directly

Once a segment enters this “phantom Error” state, there is no UI-based recovery:

    ❌ Re-running validation
    ❌ Saving as copy
    ❌ Editing filters
    ❌ Removing/re-adding conditions

All fail because the internal segment artifact is already invalid.

This aligns with reports in the Dynamics Community where resolution required Microsoft backend intervention

What Does Work (Supported Recovery Options)

    ✅ Option 1 – Microsoft Support (Recommended)

Open a Severity B or higher support ticket and reference:

    • “Customer Insights – Journeys segments reverted to Draft and stuck in Error state”
    • Affected environment ID
    • Approximate date/time when the first segment failed
    • That validation passes but activation fails

    Support can:

    • Clear corrupted audience artifacts
    • Re-run segment provisioning jobs
    • Repair internal references

This is the only way to restore the same segment IDs.

✅ Option 2 – Full Segment Rebuild (Fastest Workaround)

    If time-sensitive:

    1. Create entirely new segments

      • Do not use Save As
      • Rebuild manually from scratc
    2. Avoid:

      • Multi-hop relationships if possible
      • Recently modified custom tables
      • Complex N:N paths (known to be fragile
    3. Publish one segment first

      • Confirm it goes Live
      • Then recreate the rest incrementall

This bypasses the corrupted internal definition.

    • Clear corrupted audience artifacts
    • Re-run segment provisioning jobs
    • Repair internal references
