Ribbon Workbench - Can't delete Custom Button and can't publish solution

Posted on by 65

I have created a custom button and the long and short of it is, I need to get rid of it.

I have deleted any Commands connected to it, then 'uncustomised' the button, then deleted the solution, created a new solution, and the button is still there!

I could live with that tbh, but it won't even let me publish the solution so I'm stuck in no-man's land.

In the image below you can see the command that it is still pointing to, even though that command no longer exists.

Below is the error I receive if try to change the command and publish the solution

7356.2.PNG

So I can't change the button, and can't delete the button. What can I do??

I will reward the best answer with a CRM Haiku

Thanks @Johnny Gong - it worked like a charm.

For anyone else trying this. You can add the "<EnableRule Id="Mscrm.Disabled" />" through XRM toolbox. Just add an empty rule and give it the Id "Mscrm.Disabled".

Also, i couldn't find the Id of the original button. But F12 in the browser and point to the button and you can see the Id in the HTML.

    Good day All,

This is confirmed as a known issue that: Exporting a ribbon button/flyout as unmanaged solution , deleting the button/flyout and re-importing it will not remove the customization.

Current migration steps provided from MS is manually adding <EnableRule Id="Mscrm.Disabled" /> in the command definition, under Enable Rules.

If there's any fix deployed on this bug issue I will report asap on this ticket for your reference.

    Thanks.

    Regards

    Johnny

Here's what has finally worked for me.

I created a new command with the same name of that one I had deleted, and then set the button to be using that command. I then deleted what was still in the CommandCore field and published the solution.

After publishing, I deleted that new command, cleared out the Command field of my custom button, right-clicked on the button and chose Uncustomize, and then published the solution again.

This worked for me, I hope it does for you guys

I feel for you buddy. I don't know why it's near impossible to delete/remove your changes once they've been made... maybe something about metadata? mluce

RE: Ribbon Workbench - Can't delete Custom Button and can't publish solution

I have custom buttons that I am trying to remove.  I can delete them from the ribbon workbench and publish successfully, but they still dont delete. :-(

I've even tried creating a solution with the entity in, and deleting the commands etc out of the XML and reimporting... but the buttons just magically reappear!!
