Using the exchange server instead of MAPI

We would like to utilize the Exchange server to send invoices via email from GP instead of Outlook. We have switched the system preferences from MAPI to Exchange.

It took my Exchange credentials but generated the error below after. The same error also appears when the system preferences are set to MAPI and I click the "deny" button when GP attempts to gain access to Outlook. This makes me think that it is a permissions issue?? Are there additional changes elsewhere that have to be updated for it to work?

I found the below information:

Our SharePoint URL field is blank. Is that a requirement?

The note references Microsoft Dynamics GP Web Client as a requirement for using the exchange server. How do I ensure that we have Web Client installed and up to date?

Any ideas help!

Thank you!

    Hello Kayla,

The step for adding the URL is very old. It is not required for anything anymore.

You can use MAPI or Exchange anywhere within the normal GP Client with the normal caveats that MAPI only works with 32 bit Office and that Exchange does not work with TLS 1.2 or MFA until you get to GP 2016's 2020 year end update or GP 18.3.

The unknown error message is the default "we don't know what happened" error. It basically means the system we are relying on (Outlook for MAPI, Exchange for... well Exchange) told us it failed, but not why. For MAPI it usually means something told GP it cannot send emails. For Exchange, it usually means something is blocking Exchange in the system.

Based on what I have been seeing lately, I would start with what is in the Troubleshooting Guide here:
Dynamics GP Email Troubleshooting Guide - Microsoft Dynamics GP Community

Past this, what version of GP and Exchange are you using?
Determine the version of Microsoft Exchange Server my account connects to - Outlook

We are using Microsoft GP 2018 and Exchange 2016. I will take a look at the attached links now. Thank you!

I am getting an account association error when trying to access the Email Troubleshooting Guide. It says my credentials are not associated with CustomerSource or PartnerSource. Could you email me the document?
