I have a question about D365 F&O and the available options for updating data based on received PDF invoices.
Below more details regarding my request.
The company in which I actually work wants to update their current process (purchase order), since they use other apps outside D365 F&O.
So basically, the company has two different processes:
- PO based process: create a PO in D365 F&O → first receive products (product reception) and then receive the invoice via e-mail (PDF) OR first receive the invoice (PDF) and then make the product reception → update the information manually in D365 F&O until the invoice.
- Invoice only process: receive invoice via email (PDF) → manually create an invoice journal in D365 F&O by entering all information from the email → post the journal.
What we would wish to have: when person A verifies whether a PDF invoice corresponds to an existing PO in D365 F&O:
- If YES (process 1 above): they check if the PDF invoice matches the PO information. Question: can this matching and data update process be automated based on the PDF received by e-mail?
- If NO (process 2 above): They create an invoice journal manually. Question: can invoice journal creation and data population be automated based on the PDF received by e-mail?
We're looking for suggestions, best practices, or available solutions. Preferably native D365 F&O features or low-code/no-code options (Power Automate, etc.) that don't require extensive customization or development.
