Hi Experts,

In the app store (Google Play or Apple store) there are some preview pictures of the Field Service mobile App.
One of those pictures has a tabbed view in it, that seems to be a tabbed view of a bookable resource booking record.
I've tried many things but i'm not able to get this view in the app, So i hope anyone can give me the answer i'm looking for.

Thanks in advance !

    Hi there!

    • In App Designer, if you open the Field Service Mobile app you wish to modify
    • Then edit the Bookable Resource Booking form by navigating to the "Forms" section
    • From there, select the form you wish to customize
    • Then add tabs through Form Editor
    • Click on Insert tab in the ribbon and then select "Tab" to add a new tab to the form
    • From here, you can drag and drop the desired fields into the new Tab
    • Then save, publish
    • And verify the changes are as you expect

Found your post whilst looking for the same.

Did you need to update the app or is it a change in the form itself you need to make?

    Hi Holly,

This wasn't the answer i was looking for unfortunately.
Customizing the forms and add tabs are clear to me.
It's more the look and feel of the app i'm talking about.

In the file which i added in my first post, you can see a tabbed view of  the tabs that are available.
I'm looking for a way to get this tabbed view in the mobile app, right now i see the tabs in the app but not on the same way as in the file.
Perhaps it's a setting which has to be activated.

Hopefully someone has an answer for me.

    Hello!

Looks I'm late to the party but giving it a try to help.

Have you tried enabling the new mobile UX for the Field Service mobile app?
Docs: Set up the mobile app | Microsoft Learn

This will enable a modernized user interface for parts of the application.

    Regards,
    Michael

    Hello NI-07011250-0,

You're absolutely right to notice that tabbed view in the Field Service mobile app previews! It's a feature that's often showcased but can be tricky to configure. Let's break down how to achieve that tabbed view for your Bookable Resource Booking records in the Field Service mobile app.

    Understanding the Tabbed View:

The tabbed view you're seeing in the app store previews is achieved using form controls and form components within the Field Service mobile app's form configuration. Specifically, you'll be working with the tab control and sections within those tabs.

Steps to Configure the Tabbed View:

    1. Access the Field Service Mobile App Form:

      • In Dynamics 365, navigate to Settings > Customizations > Customize the System.
      • Expand Entities > Bookable Resource Booking > Forms.
      • Locate the form you're using in the Field Service mobile app (usually named something like "Booking and Work Order").
      • Open the form for editing.

    2. Add a Tab Control:

      • In the form editor, click Insert > Tab.
      • Choose a tab layout (e.g., one column, two columns, etc.).
      • The tab control will be added to the form.

      •

    3. Rename and Configure Tabs:

      • Click on the tab header to select it.
      • In the properties pane on the right:

        • Change the Name to something descriptive (e.g., "General", "Details", "Notes").
        • Change the Label to the title you want to display on the tab (e.g., "General", "Details", "Notes").

      • Repeat for each tab you want to add.

    4. Add Sections to Tabs:

      • Within each tab, click Insert > Section.
      • Choose a section layout (e.g., one column, two columns).
      • In the properties pane:

        • Change the Name to something descriptive (e.g., "BookingInformation", "CustomerDetails").
        • Change the Label to the title you want to display on the section.

    5. Add Fields to Sections:

      • Drag and drop the relevant fields from the Field Explorer onto the sections within each tab.
      • Organize the fields logically within the tabs and sections.

    6. Save and Publish:

      • Save the form.
      • Publish the customizations.

      •

    7. Test in the Field Service Mobile App:

      • Open the Field Service mobile app on your device.
      • Navigate to a Bookable Resource Booking record.
      • You should now see the tabbed view with the fields organized as you configured them.

      •

    8.

    Important Considerations:

    • Form Order: The order of the tabs in the form editor will determine the order they appear in the mobile app.
    • Mobile Optimization: Design your tabs and sections with mobile usability in mind. Avoid overcrowding fields.
    • Offline Availability: If you're using offline synchronization, ensure that the fields you're adding to the tabs are configured for offline use.
    • Performance: Too many tabs or sections can impact performance on mobile devices.
    • Form Customization: Ensure that you are customizing the correct form that is used in the field service mobile app.

    •

Why You Might Not Be Seeing It:

    • Incorrect Form: You might be editing a different form than the one used by the Field Service mobile app.
    • Publishing Issues: You might have forgotten to publish your customizations.
    • App Cache: Try clearing the Field Service mobile app's cache.
    • Form Customization Differences: There might be some differences between the App Store preview pictures and the current available version of the app.

    •

By following these steps, you should be able to create the tabbed view for your Bookable Resource Booking records in the Field Service mobile app. Remember to test thoroughly and optimize for mobile usability.

Anyone looking for an answer, please be sure to review Michael's response below. Specifically this link:

The new look is enabled through the Field Service mobile app Settings > Features menu by a system administrator. I had trouble finding this, as I had assumed it would be in the overall Field Service Settings menu or through the Model Driven App Settings. Open the Field Serice Mobile App and go to Settings > Features > Enable New Mobile Experience.

    Hi all,

I think the answer of Daivat will be sufficient according to my question.

In his answer he mentioned that there might be a difference between the app store preview pictures and the available version of the app.

Probably this tabbed view function as in the preview pictures isn't available (yet).

    Thanks for all the suggestions!
