Automotive Accelerator - Associating Contact & Device Entities

Posted on by 10

I work for an OEM and have been investigating The Automotive Accelerator as an alternative to our existing CRM and DMS solutions. So far it looks great, but having imported our existing customers and vehicles, I am struggling to associate the Contact entity with the Device entity (an owner to a vehicle). If anyone knows how to do this, or of documentation showing how to do this, would be incredibly grateful...

RE: Automotive Accelerator - Associating Contact & Device Entities

    Hi partner,

There are two ways: (1) creating relationships between entities (2) using connections.

    1. creating relationships between entities

First we need to determine whether the relationship between the Contact entity and the Device entity is 1:N or N:N.

If it is 1:N, then a Device can only correspond to one Contact. A Device can select a Contact through lookup field, a Contact can select multiple Contacts through the sub-grid.

If it is N:N, then multiple Devices correspond to multiple Contacts, and they are selected by sub-grid.

Please refer to the following documents to know how to create relationships between entities:

    2. using connections

We can use connections to connect records between two different entities, and these two records do not need any relationship.

Please refer to the following documents to know how to use connections:
