Plugins/Workflows with SDK 8.2 in CRM Online 9.0

Posted on by 155

MS mentions here that CRM 8.2 will not be supported after 31 jan in CRM Online.

https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/crminthefield/2018/09/21/dynamics-365-monthly-update-august-september-2018/

Does anyone know how it will affect Plugins/Workflows complied with CRM SDK 8.2?

Thanks!

    Hi,

Agree with the above suggestion. Actually there is no need to change plugins or custom workflow activities as dll's are backward compatible.

In addition , CRM 9.0 uses .NET 4.6.2 framework. If you are planning for upgrade , you could build all your code in .NET 4.6.2 framework as the following post suggested. While Plugins or Workflow Activities should continue to be built using .NET Framework 4.5.2.

    Hope the above would help.

    Regards

    Johnny

    Hi kranis,

That article is about the CRM system as a whole will not be supported after 31 i.e. any online organization which is not on 9.0 is not supported. The assemblies compiled with 8.2 will still work as dll's are backward compatible. However, it is always a good idea to rebuild your plugins with the latest assemblies.

    Hope this helps.
