How to know if component was actually changed in a custom solution?

Posted on by 2

Hi All,

I have received an instance with an unmanaged solution. The solution has lots of components and I  am sure many of them were not customized but just were added because of dependency or other factors.

Is there any tool I can use to compare custom solution with default solution in order to know what components have any customization done?

thanks

    Hi,

Might be below options you can try -

-Identify the component with custom solution publisher name.

    - You can also export both default solution and custom solution and then  try to  compare customization.xml.

You will find in both solution folder there is a customization.xml file.

    - If I am not wrong you can find solution compare tool ,I have not used this tool but you can check.

    Hi,

I don't think you can keep track of what was changed by comparing solutions. But, you can check my blog on managing solutions better in the future - d365demystified.com/.../using-clone-a-patch-clone-solution-in-d365-solutions

    Hope this helps.
