Problems when modifying multiple records

Posted on by 45

Hi,

We are encountering severe problems since a few days when modifying multiple records.

Whatever the field we want to change in the records, it modifies correctly, but with the following side effects :

we lose the value on other fields (two options type yes/no) : they go back to default value : empty.

We have desactivated all rules or workflow affecting these fields but the problem still remains...

Any clue ?

Thanks for your help.

In fact it is solved but not a rule problem.... If the fields format is swiched to two options instead of check box (in the form settings) it does not change the value anymore.

In fact its a bug from Microsoft ! The behavior of the field is difernt when stting is checkbox versus two options (yes/no)

    Strange !

Ok it seems to be solved thanks to your input on rules. I don't understand why but desactivating the rules linked with the disappearing fields it works... I need to investigate what was wrong with these rules which run smoothly since several monts...

Anyway a big big thank to you for your help !

RE: Problems when modifying multiple records

Ok sorry, I understood the first point. In fact, in an advanced search, the field appears to have a value. I was not very precise when I said "Empty" because it's a check box which shows empty but in fact is either yes or no (when non, the box is empty, that's why I said that...) Thus I can't draw any conclusion from your first idea.

The field turns to default value (no) and therefore still holds a value and the box appears empty ...

Do an Advanced find and see if the fields got values, if yes then there might be JavaScript setting them as default on load.

    OR

Check if there are any business rules for the fields. Here is the link about BusinessRules: docs.microsoft.com/.../create-business-rules-recommendations-apply-logic-form

There isn't any plugin for this entity

  • RE: Problems when modifying multiple records

Open Default solution in CRM and in the Left Pane Select "SDK Message Processing Steps" and you will see all existing plugin steps in the grid view.

Check if there is any plugin step for the entity you looking for isn in the list by filtering the list with Primary Object Type Code column, if there is one try to deactivate it and see if that is not clearing the fields.
