I need help creating a relationship between an Account and a custom entity linked to the Contact.

I need to create a report on the number of custom entities(Contact) linked to Account. N-1

Can anyone assist?

So the relationship between Account and Contact is 1:N, the relationship between Account and custom entity is 1:N, the relationship between Contact and custom entity is 1:N, right?

Yes that is correct.

Account and Contact is 1:N

Contact and custom entity is 1:N

I am struggling to build the relationship between the Account and the custom entity. You are correct in saying that it should be:

Account and custom entity is 1:N

For example:

A university (account) can have many students (Contacts)

A student (Contact) can have any qualifications (Custom Entity linked to Contact)

But I'm struggling to formulate a relationship in which I can report on the number of qualifications that the university has issued.

Account linked to multiple custom entities.

Hi partner,

If only for the report, we do not need create new relationship between Account and custom entity.

When creating a report, select Primary record type to Contact, Related record type to Custom entity.

Then select the Company Name in the filter of Contact.

When set the Lay Out, select Company Name of Contact be the group and select its Summary type to Count.

So the report is as follow.

Thanks for the quick response.

The problem I have is that there is no option to select for Company Name or Account Name in the filter of the contact.

Here I've created the report and then clicked next.

But here there's no option to select Company Name or Account Name.

I don't understand why or what I need to do...

Hi partner,

It is possible that the display name of the Account lookup field of Contact has been modified.

We need to check its new name first.

Go to customizations and open the fields of Contact, then sort by Name, find parentcustomerid. Check its display name. This is the original Company Name field.

Hi partner,

Have you tried my answer above to find the actual field of Company Name?

The display name of a field can be changed, but the name cannot be changed, so we need to find the new display name of Company Name according to the name.

Edit the Company Name field and check if Searchable is Yes.

If not, change it to Yes.
