Dynamics CRM records create/update Report with time period

Posted on by 353

Hi Expert,

Now I am planning an Report for my CRM2016 on-premise system.

The report will include one entity (Product) and fields will include the fields of Product itself and from other linked entities fields.

Select any past priod of time, the report will show all the fields of create/update history in this time period.

Can you suggest the proper solution to satisfy requiement above? Thanks in advance.

    Hi Datadvancer,

This article shows an example of a auditing report built in SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS). You can use parts of the stored procedure in your report.

This article will teach you how to enable auditing.

Thanks for you helpful info. The report created by PBI will be integrate into the CRM solution as Report component, right?

Thanks Adrian. Detail information is very helpful. One point is not clear:  for getting audit information, every field must be setup to auditable? How to get this information and input in the report/table? Thanks again.

Check with your D365 license, some include Power BI, depending on the license purchased and when it was purchased. If not, the Author license is free (PBI Desktop).

    Hi Datadvancer,

You can achieve this by creating a SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) report with parameters to let a user select a time period. You will need to query the product entity, linked entities, and the audit information and filter the results based on the selected time period. You will need to enable auditing in all entities for which you require create and update history.

Thanks Nico.  I don't know much about Power BI, is it need to buy a licence?
