How do you deploy a plugin to a customer

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi,

I'm fairly new to Dynamics 365, so thought i would ask here.

I've create a plugin that triggers on a entity create event, and got it working in our Dynamics 365 environment by deploying the plugin through the Plugin Registration Tool.

Now I want to deploy the plugin to a customer. What's best practice for this? Can I register the plugin somewhere so that the customer can just download/activate it somehow or do I need to use the Plugin Registration Tool against the customer environment?

Best regards,

Marius

So I've managed to deploy a new solution with the assembly code to another Dynamics 365 deployment.

How do I create the steps that should trigger the assembly/plugin?

Do I have to use the Plugin Registration Tool again?

EDIT: I found the steps under: Sdk Message Processing Steps

    Regards,

    Hi

You can deploy your plugins via Plugin Registration Tool to your customer's instance (of cource your need administrator account).

You can also distribute your plugin by "solution" package from your instance to another instance, but target (to) instance can not be lower version from your source (from) instance.

Simply create a solution "Settings > Solutions" and put your plugin assembly and steps inside it. After all, you can export your solution as "managed solution" and transfer to your customer to import their instance.
