Automatic Bank Statement Import Solutions

Hi there,

We are looking for an automatic bank statement import solution and are currently torn between using an extension or developing a PowerShell script to import the files. Has anyone had any success with one or the other or could recommend good third-party extensions to handle this task across multiple environments and companies?

Thank you!
I have the same question (0)

    hi there!
good morning, evening, or afternoon - depending on where you are :)

    hope this helps some:

Criteria extensions / third party solutions PowerShell Scripts Yodlee
ease of use user friendly, generally minimal technical knowledge needed higher technical expertiese required user friendly, automated data import, and support for multiple accounts & currencies
support and updates provided by the vendor, regular updates requires in house maintenance and updates provided by yodlee, regular updates
integration integrates with business central custom integration needed seamless integration with business central
cost may  involve subscription fees or one-time costs generally cost-effective, espeically with in house expertiese involves subscription fees / one time costs
customization limited based on the extension high level of customization capability varies depending on solution but generally flexible
dependency dependent on third party vendor in house / more control and management of the solution dependent upon Yodlee

    hope this helps some!

Thank you both, let's say this narrows this down to Yodlee (extension), Bankfeed (extension) and custom PowerShell script development. We don't want to import the statements manually. Is there a resource somewhere comparing the 3 options or do you have any input regarding the pros/cons?

The pros and cons are as follows:

Yodlee is much faster, but it has several issues. It often breaks, and you can find forum posts discussing how it regularly goes down. It's not the most reliable, sometimes it works for weeks or even a month, but then it stops suddenly. Another downside is that it doesn't support all banks, and for some banks, it can only pull transactions from the past 1-2 weeks instead of a full month, which can be problematic if you reconcile only once a month.

On the other hand, importing using Excel/CSV files is slower but more reliable since it won't randomly break down. Personally, I suggest this option as its the most reliable.

Thank you Valentin, that's very helpful. Unfortunately there is a strong desire within the business to automate the import so I might look into PowerShell automation after all.
