Understanding notifications and subscriptions

The Dynamics 365 Community can deliver useful notifications for community activity and allows members to enable or disable these notifications. Members can subscribe to forums or even specific threads if desired.
 
Notifications waiting indicator
 
New waiting notifications will be indicated by a number on the bell icon in the upper right corner of the browser.
 
 
Notifications popup window
 
Clicking the bell icon opens the notifications popup window, which provides access to member activity and user group messages.
 

 
Access to preferences for notifications is available via the small gear icon at the top of the popup window, or via member profile page.
 
Subscribing to a forum
 
To subscribe to a forum, go to the forum and select the 'Subscribe' button on the right rail.
 
 
Forum notifications can be found in the activity view (available via bell icon in top right of browser).
 
Subscribing to a specific forum thread
 
Members can also subscribe to any specific forum thread to stay updated on all replies, by selecting the 'Subscribe' link in the toolbar (top right on thread page). Once subscribed, the toolbar will show the link as 'Unsubscribe' and if needed members can click it to unsubscribe from the thread. A thread author is automatically subscribed to their own post.
 
 
Managing notification preferences
 
The in-app notification choices are set to default activation, but feel free to personalize them according to your preferences. Additionally, for email notifications, you have the flexibility to enable or disable them as needed.
