Hello. In Microsoft CRM Dynamics 4.0 there is a custom entity which has been created and added to the Case form and is used as a lookup. This lookup has a number of redundant values e.g. Administration and Admin. I want to delete the lookup value "Admin". However, using Advanced Find and filtering cases for "Admin" shows that there have been cases recorded in the past which used the lookup value of Admin. So my question is, if I delete the "Admin" lookup value from the custom entity, will this also delete all the cases which had the "Admin" value selected in them?
have a look at the relationship settings and make sure it's not set to "Parental"
There is more info here if you need it:
It depends on the relationship behaviour, if the relationship behaviour is set to "Cascade All" for delete, then the case records associated with the custom entity records will also be deleted. If you don't want the case records to be deleted, then change the relationship behviour of Delete to "Cascade None".
It all depends upon the Cascading behavior of the relationship between the entities, as well as any customization.
Please check the cascading behavior. Also please check any plugin and workflow which would affect this.
