I am being asked to create a test server that mirrors production. I have SQL Server installed and am asking the DBA to restore the production db to the test SQL Server, then I will install CRM server. Is this the right approach? They are on separate servers. Also what else will CRM ask me for during installation that I need beforehand, is an exchange server needed in advance? Thanks in advance.
This approach will work. You will need the following information to install CRM Server:
- What website and port to install on
- An Active Directory OU in which to create CRM AD groups, or you can use pre-existing groups if you use a configuration file for the setup
Once you've installed CRM, you then use CRM Deployment Manager to import the SQL organisation database to make it available in CRM
