Job Queues are not running automatically

Hi Everyone,

I am facing issues in job queue, they are not running automatically in business central Saas.
  • The job queue status is set to Ready.

  • I set the Earliest Start Date/Time to a future time (two minutes ahead of the current time).

  • The job queue is recurring and set to run for everyday.
However, the job doesn't execute, and the Earliest Start Date/Time does not update. The queue remains in Ready status with no errors or logs.
When I use the Run Once (Foreground) action, the job runs successfully without any issues. I also tried deleting and recreating the job queue, but the issue persists.

I have also tried creating a new job queue category code and using an existing one but still the job is not running. We have noticed this issue for a few days now.

Thanks in Advance.

In my experience the Job Queues behave a bit like rollup fields, they are a bit sluggish. I think 2 minutes is simply not feasible for them. Have you tried letting them sit for a day or two? I would say they likely require about 24 hours to actually run.

    Hi
I have tried keeping job queue still for two days, it just sits in ready state without doing anything, doesn't update earliest start date time as its is scheduled for running every 24 hrs.

    Hi Everyone

    The issue is now resolved.

For everyone who faced same issue, please check if the task schedular is created for you job queue, if it is then try restarting your environment(which will reinitialize task scheduler), this usually happens because task scheduler wasn't initialized after the environment was updated or restarted or a routine maintenance.

    Hi everyone,

I ran into the same issue with several customers whose Business Central SaaS environments were updated around May 14th. After the update, the job queues stopped running entirely.

Restarting the environment resolved the issue for us as well. Thanks for sharing the tip, it saved us quite a bit of troubleshooting time!
