What is the customer base for NAV2009, 2013, 2013R2
Sorry Jonathan, your answere is not clear to me
Which version of NAV (2009, 2013, 2013R2) has good customer base (scope)?
please describe in detail what you need. technically the table customer is in nav used to store the main customer data. but it seems you mean something different.
Yes i want to say that, Which version of NAV (2009, 2013, 2013R2) has more customers
All versions will have Same number of customers (if I understood your question correctly.)
Microsoft has released Extended datbases for NAV2009R2 and NAV2013 (not sure of NAV2015) where they have added more Data..
if you mean the technical base of dynamics nav: for testing purposes there are a couple of demo customers (~ 70) in the demo database cronus, shipped with every nav installation.
in terms of business: search for the history of dynamics nav
maybe nav 2009 has the biggest number of installations. although quite old, there are also man installations of nav 5.
nav 2013 is quite new and has increasing numbers of implementations (many of them are upgrades from nav 5 or nav 2009). nav 2013 was in many terms a big step (windows client, web client, no forms any more).
nav 2013 r2 (second release) has many new features in comparision to nav 2013. also here an increasing number of implementations.
nav 2015 is the newest version. it's hard to say, how the customers (the clients) will accept it. also with many new features (strong BI focus, mobile framework for tablets, ...).
You can have any number of customers in NAV and Version does not depend on that.
If you are talking about testing company then in that Microsoft normally sent 60+ customer profiles. If you want you can create more in that.
Thanks for the inputs
We are working on one of the project for our customer to develop plugin connectors (Integration Adapter), which would enable the end users to quickly integrate cloud and on premise applications. We are targeting to develop plugin connectors for Microsoft Dynamics NAV.
So want to know which NAV version has more customer orientation
so how many of each version has installations globally?
which version to focus your attention on to reach the greatest number of customers?
need to know expected availabilty of your product.
I would think 2009 currently has the greatest number of users, but I also think that those users may eventually migrate to a newer version.
I wouldn't spend too much time on 2013, get a copy of 2015...stay current. I'm thinking 2013 will be a footnote in the grand progression of NAV history.
maybe this google trend chart helps you (search runs for nav 2009, nav 2013, nav 2013 r2, nav 2015) between 2008 and 2014:
with nav 2009/2013 and later versions you have the modern wpf based rtc client. this client is much slower, but has modern layout (ribbons, nice icons, etc.)
If you are looking for NAV customer base check the below graph :
Thanks Jonathan, above info is really helpfull. Is there any online link from where i can see the google trend chart which u have shared

If you are planning a new deployment and develop connectors, integrations, etc... I recommend you to go for NAV 2015 without any doubt. This version is nice, with more and enhanced features, is stable and of course you will have support for more years.
