Since 10.12.14 Saved views in CRM 4.0 cannot be changed anymore: adding columns, configuring sorting, changing column properties all fail. When cancelled, the pop-up 'Microsoft Dynamics encountered an error. . .' appears. Then, when 'View the data that will be sent to Microsoft' is clicked a window appears that says 'A Microsoft Dynamics CRM window was unable to open and may have been blocked by a pop-up blocker. . . .' (which is turned 'off' of course). Only 'Remove' still deletes columns. I suspect one of the 09.12.14 security patches messed this up.
I can still change the entity Views through Customizations,<some entity>, Forms and Views, <some view>, Edit Columns, etc.
We have CRM4.0 with the latest roll-up running on Windows Server 2003, most recently patched with KB3012172 and KB3013126 on December 10, 2014.
May be your view contains some deleted fields as part of the view that might be causing the issue. Try to create new view and edit it , if that works then something might be corrupted with old saved view delete and re-create it.
This is likely to be an Internet Explorer issue - were there any IE patches that were installed on those dates - try un-installing and see if it fixes it.
Hi Chitra, thanks for your suggestion. However, no fields have been deleted recently and the phenomenon occurs for ALL saved views, not just one or two. And the trouble started precisely the day after the 09.12 security updates were installed (since one of these also broke ActiveX controls in Excel I am suspecting these).
I have tried creating new Saved Views and experience the same problem.
Hi Scott, it looks like you're absolutely right. I connected a laptop that still did not have the 09.12 patches and bingo! So now it's time to find the offending patch and correct the mess it created. It looks like MS testing has not been very thorough (ActiveX in Excel also broken by one of these patches). Thanks a lot for your quick reply!
