Hi -- I have searched both communities, but I was unable to find an answer.
We have a requirement to add a "Save and Close" button to both Web Forms and Entity Forms within Adxstudio. The intention behind this button is to allow users to Save and Close their Web Form in a Draft state. They will then access the form they were working on via an Entity List. These forms can take several months to complete, so this functionality is crucial.
We are using Adxstudio 7.00022. Let me know if I can be more specific.
Typically when you "submit" an entity form or a webform, you have the option to either display a success message or redirect (or move to the next step). So your record is still "editable" if you have them available on an entity list (essentially, the default submit action is the same as "save and close")
What I am assuming is that you want a "submit" button (that will complete the form and no longer allow further edits) and a "save and close" button where you can go back and edit the record.
One approach would be to add an action (in the entity list record scroll down to grid configuration) on the entity list to kick off a workflow to close the record(s).
On the entity form, modify the Action button "submit" label to "save and close"
You can add another entity form button to kick off a workflow (so you have 2 buttons) but I don't think you accomplish what you need.
Hope that helps.
Thanks, Nick. That gives me some ideas to work from.
Is it possible to have the Save and Close (the former Submit) button on every page? ideally next to the Next and Previous buttons.
There are roughly 11 pages to the form, so it wouldn't be ideal to scroll to the end.
Also, yes, we need 2 buttons. One that effectively works as a Save and Close, and one that triggers a workflow defining they have completed the form to the best of their ability.
+1 for Nick's suggestion.
Another approach is to use Liquid templates, although this is more work, it'll give you more control.
You should be able to accomodate that by defining the labels in the webform step records:
In the screenshot, you've renamed the Previous Button Text to "Save and Previous". Am i right in thinking that there is also some server side customisation required here? My understanding is that the Previous button on a web form does not Save (certainly on v8).
We are using Dynamics CRM Portals (v8) and require a separate Save button because the forms might need to be completed over a period of time in several visits before being submitted. Obviously "Save and Next" will Save but the user will not be on the same page when they come back to the form. Its also not an option on the final step because we don't want the page to be submitted.
Did you ever get a solution for this?
I also need to implement a save on previous and came upon this thread
Your help would be greatly appreciated!
There is no OOB way to implement the save and close button without customization, we need to write a JS to call both next and previous buttons to save data.
Note: it will work only if there is no mandatory field at CRM side, make it mandatory using JS.
